Hon. Justin Tkatchenko MP expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent the Papua New Guinea government at Malaysia Day celebrations on Friday, October 10.
In his address, Tkatchenko extended warm congratulations to the Malaysian government and people, marking the formation of a unified Malaysia on September 16, 1963. He highlighted the significance of bringing together diverse cultures, religions, languages, and territories into one nation—a challenge he said resonates with Papua New Guinea’s own experience.
“Papua New Guinea pays homage to Malaysia’s forefathers, whose tireless efforts and wise counsel have shaped a vibrant, innovative, and resilient country,” Tkatchenko said. He praised Malaysia’s progress across economic, technical, innovation, and sustainable development sectors, noting it reflects the determination and vigour of both the government and its citizens.
The celebration underscored the enduring friendship and shared experiences between the two nations in nation-building and cultural unity.
