Papua New Guinean environmental advocate Carol Aigilo has been awarded a 2025 Chevening Scholarship to pursue a Master of Science in Environment and Business Management at Bangor University, North Wales.
Carol, driven by a passion for balancing environmental sustainability with business growth, said the scholarship represents an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills she hopes to apply in Papua New Guinea’s sustainable development efforts.
“A personal tip for writing a strong Chevening application is to be genuine about why you want to study your chosen course. When you truly care about what you’re studying, you’ll feel more excited and willing to do the research. This will help you understand what you want to achieve from your course, and that clarity will show in how you articulate your application — and will be even more evident during your interview. Above all, be yourself!” Carol advised aspiring Chevening scholars.
The Chevening Scholarship Programme, funded by the UK Government, aims to equip outstanding emerging leaders from around the world with advanced skills and networks to bring positive change to their home countries. Applications for the 2026–2027 cohort are now open.
