Rugby league continues to play a central role in bringing communities together across Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific. This week, young people in Port Moresby took part in the Pacific Championships School Clinic, where NRL and Pacific rugby league stars shared their skills and experience with the next generation of players.
The League Bilong Laif program, delivered in partnership with the NRL in PNG, is supported by the Australian Government through the Team Up initiative. The program uses sport to teach young people important life skills, including teamwork, respect, and leadership.
By combining professional coaching with community engagement, the program aims to foster both personal development and stronger connections among participants, reinforcing rugby league’s role as more than just a sport in Papua New Guinea.
Officials say initiatives like these continue to inspire young players while promoting positive values and healthy lifestyles in communities across the country and the Pacific region.
