Papua New Guinea Extends Condolences on the Passing of Thailand’s Queen Mother

Papua New Guinea’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Justin Tkatchenko, MP, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Kingdom of Thailand following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Kitiyakara, the beloved Queen Mother of Thailand, who passed away at the age of 93.

In a message shared on Saturday evening, Minister Tkatchenko paid tribute to Her Majesty’s lifelong service and devotion to the Thai people, describing her as a symbol of grace, dignity, and compassion.

“Today we remember and celebrate the remarkable life of the Queen Mother of the Kingdom of Thailand, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Kitiyakara,” Minister Tkatchenko stated. “She served the people of Thailand with true honour and dignity until her passing today at 93 years old.”

The Minister extended Papua New Guinea’s deepest sympathies to His Majesty the King of Thailand and the Royal Family during this period of mourning.

“Our greatest sympathies go to the King of Thailand and all the immediate Royal Family members in their time of great sorrow and grief. May Queen Sirikit’s beautiful soul rest in God’s everlasting peace always,” he said.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, wife of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and mother of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, was widely admired for her philanthropic work, particularly her lifelong advocacy for rural development, women’s empowerment, and cultural preservation across Thailand.

Papua New Guinea and the Kingdom of Thailand enjoy longstanding diplomatic relations grounded in mutual respect and friendship, with both nations cooperating in areas of trade, development, and regional cooperation under ASEAN–Pacific partnerships.

The Government and people of Papua New Guinea join the global community in mourning the passing of a remarkable and revered monarch, whose legacy of service and compassion continues to inspire generations across the world.
