Forty Tongan alumni of the Australian Awards Scholarships program were officially welcomed home last week, following the completion of their studies in Australia.
The returning cohort—comprising lawyers, midwives, educators, health professionals, and public servants—gathered for a dedicated reintegration session, where they received tailored support and guidance to assist with their transition back into the local workforce. The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on their academic journeys and refine their long-term career aspirations.
Australian alumni currently serving in key national agencies, including the Public Service Commission and the Anti-Corruption Commission, shared valuable insights on policy developments and professional experiences since returning home.
The day concluded with an evening reception celebrating the alumni's achievements and reaffirming the strong and enduring links between Tonga and Australia.
These scholars now join a growing network of Australian alumni making meaningful contributions to Tonga’s development, governance, and prosperity.
