This morning marked a powerful start to PNG Resources Week 2025, bringing together over 800 delegates to celebrate the legacy and future of Papua New Guinea’s vital resource sector. The event opened with a welcoming message from PNG CORE President Anthony Smaré, who emphasized unity and innovation as key drivers in the sector’s ongoing contribution to community development over the past five decades.
Prime Minister Hon. James Marape delivered the keynote address, reflecting on the nation’s journey since independence and the transformative role mining, petroleum, and energy projects have played in shaping Papua New Guinea’s infrastructure and livelihoods. He highlighted how revenues from these sectors have supported the construction of schools, hospitals, roads, and other critical facilities, improving the quality of life for many Papua New Guineans.
Prime Minister Marape’s call for inclusive growth and fair partnerships resonated throughout the opening session, setting the tone for a week dedicated to shared prosperity and sustainable national progress. Together, the leadership of PNG CORE and the government reaffirmed the resource sector as a cornerstone of PNG’s development—past, present, and future.
PNG Resources Week 2025 promises a dynamic platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration, underscoring the sector’s commitment to driving economic growth while ensuring benefits reach communities across the country.
