LAE SNAX TIGERS RECEIVE K100,000 BOOST FROM LAE CITY AUTHORITY

The Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Lae, Hon. John Rosso, has presented a K100,000 sponsorship to the Lae SNAX Tigers Rugby League Club to support their campaign in the 2025 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup competition.

Speaking at the presentation, Deputy Prime Minister Rosso, who also serves as Chairman of the Lae City Authority (LCA), commended the coaching staff, management, and players for their dedication in promoting Lae City and representing Morobe Province with pride.

He also extended gratitude to the Chow family for their long-standing commitment to sports development in Lae.

“The Chow family, through the Lae Biscuit Company, has contributed significantly to various sporting codes in Lae over many years. It is only fitting that we support them through the Lae SNAX Tigers,” said DPM Rosso.

In addition to supporting the Tigers, the Lae Schools Rugby League competition has received a K100,000 funding boost from the LCA to further its programs and competitions across schools in the city.

“I would also like to thank Ian Chow and the Lae Biscuit Company for their ongoing support of the schools’ rugby league program. This initiative provides a positive platform to keep our young people away from drugs, alcohol abuse, and other social challenges,” he added.

Lae SNAX Tigers Team Manager Roy Kela expressed sincere thanks to DPM Rosso and the LCA for their unwavering support over the past eight years, praising the leadership’s vision for Lae City.

“On behalf of our sponsor, the Lae Biscuit Company, our management, coaching staff, and players, I thank LCA and DPM Rosso for being steadfast supporters of our local team,” said Kela.
“Your support has been vital in helping us secure back-to-back grand final victories and consistently finish at the top of the competition.”

Tigers Coach Noel Zeming highlighted the promising future of the club’s player development pathway, with the launch of the Lae SNAX Tigers Academy Under-19 and Women’s teams, whose competitions will commence soon.
