Since 1902, when the British handed PNG to Australia, through to Self- Government in 1973, & eventual Independence in 1975, Australia has done nothing to enable PNG to be the first economic power in the Pacific.
Giving us Independence was to them, like getting rid of another burden.
Fast track to 2025, we have PNG leaders who are simply dumbs & stupids !!!
Not one of them is smart enough to leverage our position as a bargaining chip to extract more from Australia.
During World War 2, in 1945, native Papuan & New Guineans, who did not belong to a standing PNG Army, took it upon themselves to assist, in Australias war efforts against the Japanese.
It was not our war !!
It was a war to save Mainland Australia from Imperial Japanese occupation.
The same applies to today.
PNG is nothing but a corrupt & backward state that Australia doesn't want to waste it's money & efforts on.
To Australians, we are a buffer state that can be, in the event of a new war, used as an actual war zone, to repel attacks on it's own Homeland, whilst their citizens remain comfortable, brag alot, drink & toast to how great they are in making these Pacific people their stooges.
Our dumb leaders should demand more from Australia.
NRL entry was long overdue, since the days when Marcus Bai made headlines for the Melbourne Storms.
$600 million is nothing compared to the peace & tranquility enjoyed by Australians.
Now the proposed signing of a Defense Agreement, that is promised to reach new levels, is simply bulls**t.
Look at the PNGDF's Land Army, Navy Element & Air Wing, they don't have the minimum capabilities or capacity to even conduct operations during natural disasters or state of emergencies. What a laughing stock !!!
Just think about this fact: we have a naval officer with the rank of Admiral.
Where are the navy ships ????
What is he the Admiral for ???
If only a leader in PNG, stood up to Australia & says, enough is enough.
The peace & prosperity Australians enjoyed after WW2 to present was, founded on the sweat & blood of both Australians & natives of PNG.
Australia is ranked among the top 20, as one of the richest country on Earth, because of PNG's Buffer state.
If they want a Defense Agreement, it should be towards building up PNGDF capabilities & building up our Navy Element. We are a maritime nation. As such, we need a standing Naval Element more than a land army. Australia should equip PNG Navy with naval vessels & aircrafts to patrol our sea borders.
A Defense Agreement, limiting Chinese influence in PNG, will ultimately be negative for PNG.
China is already a superpower.
Australia is not.
This century belongs to China.
Our leaders should definitely engage China for economic & military assistance.
